Johannesburg-based Typesetting & Repro Services (T&R) is redefining print with the HP Indigo 7600 digital press. The company purchased an all-new HP Indigo 7600 sheetfed digital press from Kemtek Print Solutions in August 2012, the first of its kind in South Africa, and in the last eight months the press has proved its worth by elevating T&R’s digital printing capabilities and accelerating job turnaround.
To showcase its impressive capabilities and outstanding special features, MD Willie Jackson and the T&R team – in collaboration with Kemtek – recently invited customers to a special launch party at its headquarters in Selby.
‘We’ve always been ardent fans of the HP Indigo technology and this is the third digital press that we’ve bought from Kemtek over the years,’ said Jackson. ‘Working in tandem with our existing HP Indigo 5000, it has vastly improved production efficiencies and customers have been really impressed by its superior print quality. Besides helping us meet our ever-increasing printing demands it has enabled us to initiate some exciting new business projects.’
Besides demonstrating an array of colour print designs, T&R unveiled an original range of corrugated tables, furniture and POP that its expert design team printed on the HP Indigo 7600 and constructed using advanced die-cutting and finishing systems.
T&R’s HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press can reach a speed of 160 colour pages/min in Enhanced Productivity Mode (EPM), making it one of the fastest two-page digital sheetfed presses available today and, by combining HP proven quality, versatility, and breakthrough productivity with new intelligent automation, it’s exceeding expectations.
Enabled by HP Indigo’s unique digital offset process and liquid ElectroInk technology, printing is of the highest quality, matching or even exceeding traditional offset. The delivery of a very thin ink layer gives uniform gloss and accurate on-press Pantone emulations, whether a job requires four, six or seven process colours. T&R can also introduce true spot colours, mixed off press, for perfect Pantone-certified solids.
A host of new in-line on-demand special print effect capabilities, including raised print, digital watermarks and textured effects, as well as the 7600’s intelligent automation, have allowed T&R to present a host of high-value perfect registration applications in ultra-quick time. Its compatibility with more than 2 500 substrates has also allowed the versatile use of dark, transparent, metallic, and recycled papers, as well as carton board up to 400g/sqm for folding cartons, for numerous original designs and structures.
‘There’s no doubt that we’re raising the bar with the introduction of the HP Indigo 7600 and with the full support of the Kemtek team, the sky’s the limit. They facilitated full product training for our print manager, Mark Hall, at HP Indigo in Barcelona and continue to support us with regards to special projects, maintenance, sales and customer-facing events. Reliability and service excellence are critical to our ongoing business success and they deliver both without exception,’ said Jackson.
