Tecnau recently received an EDP award for its Zero Speed Splicer Roll 40 solution. The product automatically changes input and output rolls for web-fed digital printing systems, eliminating printer stoppages for roll changes and keeping the printer running at full speed and full productivity.
The Roll 40 permits mixing of paper quality, paper grade and web width between rolls, particularly valuable for real book-on-demand production. A splice can be done when the max/min roll diameter is reached, or as triggered by the printer. Benefits include the obvious increased printer uptime and productivity maximisation, but also enhanced flexibility, easy job separation in different rolls according to the next production steps, prioritisation of urgent orders, book on demand production and mixed media creation.
