The European Digital Press Association (EDP) recognised the Tecnau BookReady™ solution for its innovation and automation for cutsheet digital printing systems. This recognition solidifies Tecnau’s position as a trailblazer in the digital finishing landscape and underlines the company’s commitment to revolutionising the way book-blocks are created inline to digital sheetfed printers with on-the-fly application changes and no operator intervention.
The EDP Awards celebrate outstanding technology, products and services in the printing and finishing markets. Each year, a panel of independent experts comprising journalists, editors and professionals from the graphic arts industry selects winners based on their innovation, quality, performance and environmental friendliness. This prestigious award serves as a seal of excellence, acknowledging companies that have made significant strides in advancing the industry and technology.
BookReady is a completely automated system for short-run and book-on-demand production inline to sheetfed digital printers. The solution, developed by Tecnau, builds on the company’s expertise in online cutting and stacking to allow printers to manage book-block production without guillotine processing, save operator time and order to delivery time, and reduce labour handling and errors.
With BookReady, it is possible to switch applications on-the-fly, changing between 2up and 4up imposed sheets at full printing speed. The system not only produces book-of-one from SRA3+ sheets to A4 finished books, but it can also be equipped with a 90-degree turning station to rotate 2up imposed sheets from long-edge leading to short-edge leading, to maximise printing speed and make single copy production possible.
The BookReady solution system is seamlessly integrated with cut-sheet printers so that no manual intervention is required and application changes are directly managed by the printing workflow to ease production processes, optimise jobs and avoid human errors.
The cutting-edge BookReady not only enables publishers to adapt seamlessly to the evolving digital landscape but also caters to the increasing demand for book-on-demand orders. In today’s dynamic publishing industry, where short-run production down to single copies has become crucial, BookReady’s platform empowers publishers to meet these demands efficiently and effectively.
BookReady’s recognition for its innovation in the publishing industry through the prestigious ‘EDP Awards’ is a clear indication of the company’s unwavering dedication and proven ability to transform the book finishing process.
‘The Tecnau BookReady solution is a completely automated system for short-run and book-on-demand production inline to sheetfed digital printers. The full automation goes well into the direction of the so called dark factories from industry 4.0 which will prevail as of 2030. Book production is each day advancing with more automation and less errors. This module is perfect to be integrated with the recently announced new inkjet presses,’ explained the EDP technical committee.
BookReady achieves this by harnessing the power of a fully automated system that seamlessly integrates with sheetfed digital printers, enabling efficient book-on-demand production without any compromise on print productivity.
