SCREEN Inkjet Press Awarded For Packaging Capabilities

SCREEN’s Truepress PAC 520P inkjet digital press has been awarded the Pap’Awards de l’Impression for ‘Transformation in Packaging – Paper and Cardboard’ at NuitduPapier 2024.

French magazine Pap Argus, specialising in label printing and packaging, recently hosted its annual ‘Nuit du Papier’ (Night of Paper) awards, celebrating achievements in producing sustainable label printing and packaging in various categories, including circularity in food and cosmetic packaging, printing and converting, sustainable development and many more.

The Nuit du Papier is one of the foremost events in the French label and packaging industry, drawing participants from all the major French packaging organisations competing for the spotlight.

SCREEN’s Sales Director for France, Thomas Lossec, attended this year’s Nuit du Papier, where he accepted the ‘Pap’Awards de l’Impression for Transformation in Packaging – Paper and Cardboard’ on behalf of the triumphs in design and sustainable engineering of the new Truepress PAC 520P digital press for paper packaging. This award focuses on achievements in manufacturing solutions in paper and cardboard packaging with the potential to have a long-term transformative impact.

The selection committee was impressed by the Truepress PAC 520P’s capability to redefine the use of paper substrates in a wide range of packages as one of the first digital inkjet printers for the paper packaging market.

Lossec spoke about what he hopes this award will mean for the future of the Truepress PAC 520P digital press and sustainable paper packaging.

‘With this award, I am confident that more packaging converters and brand owners will begin to recognise paper as a legitimate alternative for flexible packaging. The PAC 520P successfully addresses both the increasing market demand for recyclable packaging without compromising consumer safety or product protection converters need to be successful.’

‘The Truepress PAC 520P is one step on the long journey towards fully recyclable packaging. With its food-safe, water-based inks, superior print resolution of 600 x 900dpi printed on substrates up to 520mm wide at speeds up to 80 metres per minute, SCREEN has high hopes that it will carve out a unique place for paper in the packaging market. The press also brings existing SCREEN inkjet solutions such as high uptimes, streamlined functionality requiring minimal operator training, and improved efficiency with customised or variable data printing (VDP) orders to new sectors of the packaging industry.’

‘We know that before long, we will start seeing paper as a serious player in packaging, and Truepress PAC 520P is leading the charge towards that vision.’
