Riso Africa Demonstrated Inkjet Model At Graphics, Print And Sign Expo
Riso Africa's GL9730 was used to print the daily expo news at the Graphics, Print and Sign Expo.

During the Graphics, Print and Sign Expo, Riso Africa outlined the versatile features of the company’s ComColor GL9730 inkjet model.

Some of the features that were emphasised during the demonstrations included the machine’s paper size capabilities – with a minimum paper size of A5 and maximum A3 oversize, as well as a paper weights that run from a minimum of 46gsm to a maximum of 210gsm.

Other features outlined were the machine’s four paper trays, printing speed of 165 pages per minute, and cold print process technology, which means no heat, a large ink and printing yield and lower costs. The machine also features CMYK and grey ink processes, as well as fewer moving parts, meaning service intervals are more spaced apart.

Riso Africa also discussed the machine’s 8-10 million prints lifespan, and its ability to print directly from network or PC, from memory (about half a terabyte’s capacity) or scan to print. There is also a security code feature for sensitive materials.

The GL9730 prints in true black when printed in black. The prints are dry to the touch when they come out, and the machine prints into the page, not onto the page like a conventional copier.

The machine accommodates the NCR and invoice books markets, as well as learning materials. Strydom also mentioned that this device is a complement to litho printing, not a replacement. The GL9730 was used to print the daily expo news at the event.
