The European Digital Press Association (EDP) has recognised the Ricoh Pro C901 and Pro C901S Graphics Arts + digital presses as the Best Production Cut-sheet Printers – Light Production, during the 7th EDP Awards held on June 26 at Federation of European Screen Printers Association (FESPA) in London.
The EDP Awards recognise the most innovative printers, finishing products, software and consumables launched in the print industry during 2012 and 2013. The Technical Committee adheres to strict guidelines before making their recommendations to EDP members, who then give their final approval for the awards. Receiving an EDP Award is acknowledged across Europe as a mark of quality and a sign of true innovation.
The two digital presses offer commercial and corporate printers better productivity, flexibility, quality and profitability, with a 20% higher duty cycle than previous models at 700 000 impressions per month, said Vaughan Patterson, sales manager for the production printing business group at Ricoh SA. Uptime is also better with larger sized toner bottles that require fewer changes per shift. Substrates up to 350gsm are included as part of the standard settings on both models with the media library continually updated to reflect broader grade choices.
The Ricoh Pro C901 and Pro C901S Graphics Arts + digital presses include a HyperRIP that improves performance by processing multiple job pages simultaneously. These presses also feature Xobjects caching to enable PDF files that include Xobjects to print at speeds previously associated only with VDP jobs. They also offer inline job editing and Job Preset Quick Select. Job Preset Quick Select is a productivity technique that applies predefined settings used in virtual printers and hot folders to jobs in the job list.
The systems are also part of Ricoh’s green initiatives that promote sustainable solutions by recycling and reducing CO2 emissions through Ricoh’s Carbon Balanced Printing Programme.
