Pyrotec PackMark has introduced its Markem-Imaje 1050 thermal inkjet printer, which has been designed specifically for high resolution codes and improving traceability and promotional coding for fast-moving production lines such as food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

The Markem-Imaje printer was created due to a high demand for serialised product identification solutions that enhance traceability. Brandon Pearce, General Manager at Pyrotec PackMark said, ‘The 1050 produces text, logos and graphics as high as 600 x 600 dpi as well as complex 1D and 2D barcodes. The 1050 has proven to excel at case coding in dusty, humid and corrosive environments.’

A few key elements of the 1050 Thermal Inkjet printer is its high speed accuracy and precision control. It allows for up to four separate printheads with a height of 50mm. It supports the standard TIJ pens/cartridges which are HP designed cartridges that contain both ink and printhead jetting nozzles. With an easy to use 177.8mm touch-screen with intuitive WYSIWYG interface for simple set-up, the 1050 is fully compatible with CoLOS® coding software which can be used as a network control to connect all Markem-Imaje printers.

The snap-in and out cartridges ensure low maintenance and due to the built in printheads on each TIJ cartridge the print heads don’t need to be replaced on a regular bases which reduces cost in the long run. The Markem-Imaje 1050 Thermal Inkjet printer has about a 30% faster print speed compared to other Thermal Inkjet printers but only with Markem-Imaje aqueous inks. The solvent based inks allow for the same speed.

The 1050 comes with a dpi setting which allows you to adjust the dpi from 1 to 600, depending on the desired size of the barcode and according to the packaging, which optimises the barcode printing and manages the print quality and usage.

The Markem-Imaje 1050 Thermal Inkjet printer can easily and quickly be set up in one day. A team of field service engineers will install it and train up your operators in basic operation, safety and maintenance. However, if you need the 1050 to be connected to your local database it will simply take an extra day to do so.
