PRINTING SA, in partnership with the University of South Africas (Unisa), held an informative Educational Day on 15 March at the Unisa Florida campus, where high school pupils from surrounding schools were educated about pursuing careers within the printing and packaging industries.
The presentation was followed by a tour of the Print Production plant on the campus so the pupils could see all aspects of the printing process, including pre-press, planning, bureau, quality control, the Digital Printing Facility, litho and binding.
Pupils from Riverlea Secondary, CJB Secondary, Corrie Secondary, Westbury Secondary and Die Burger Hoërskool took part in the Unisa Educational Day and got to ask employees in the Print Production plant about aspects of their jobs, the printing industry itself and what qualifications they need to work in the industry.
Tania Rhode, National Training Manager, PRINTING SA, explained to the pupils that print is integral to their lives and that the Educational Day was an opportunity to provide pupils with first-hand information about the printing industry as well as to see the different career aspects of the industry.
