PAPERJET EXPANDS RETAIL OPTIONS WITH XEROX COLOUR 1000

Paperjet, a Cape Town-based commercial printing house, is expanding its retail options with the new Xerox Colour 1000 digital press from Oxbow and Bytes Document Solutions.
 
Chris Farber, the founder and owner of Paperjet, said that the higher volume, capacity and improved colour matching and print quality of the Xerox Colour 1000 has solved a number of issues the company had with previous printers.
 
‘Because we offer such a broad range of products, from same-day business cards and flyers to more complex, production-heavy projects, we experienced challenges  in meeting deadlines across the board,’ said Farber. ‘Some of these issues could be solved by pushing higher volumes through our existing equipment, but that came at a cost of higher maintenance bills and per-click costs. The Xerox Colour 1000 has addressed these volume issues, with the added benefit of giving us more control over accurate colour matching and more reliability to further reduce maintenance costs.’
 
The Xerox Colour 1000 accommodates multiple paper stocks from lightweight 55 gsm to 350 gsm at full-rated speeds of 80 to 100 ppm, allowing customers to print anything from lightweight mailers to thick, heavyweight photo keepsake products.
 
To improve colour accuracy, the Xerox Colour 1000 comes standard with a set of colour management tools that automate time-consuming tasks. New long-life photo receptors, auto-cleaning dual wire corotrons, new belt fusing, and an in-line cooling module deliver high impact prints with maximum reliability.
 
Brett Furlong, managing director at Oxbow, said that the real value of the Xerox Colour 1000 to growing businesses like Paperjet is consistency and reliability.
 
‘It basically comes down to trust. Trust is something that’s earned through consistently good service and quality products, otherwise a business will always be viewed with a degree of apprehension,’ said Furlong, ‘Using the best equipment for the job means customers can send their files and know that the outcome will be produced correctly and affordably.’
 
Paperjet was founded in 2008 and has consistently grown its diverse customer base in Cape Town’s creative hub, offering commercial digital and wide format printing products and services. Its core products include business cards, flyers, posters, banners, booklets, stickers, vehicle wraps, wallpaper, sandblast, folders, button badges and signage, with additional on-demand services such as litho printing, graphic design and retail point of sale.
 
Farber mentioned that one of the motivators behind the Xerox Colour 1000 investment was building on Paperjet’s appeal and taking it to a larger audience. ‘Right now we’re pushing higher volumes from an office park location, but the plan is to move the business to a more visible and attractive high street retail location to attract even larger numbers of walk-in customers. To do this we need to make sure we have the equipment to cope with the added demand, and even though it’s a bit of a chicken-and-egg scenario, I have no doubt the Xerox Colour 1000 can handle anything we throw at it as we take the business to the next level,’ he said.
