The HP PageWide C500, based on HP Thermal Inkjet technology, provides offset print quality for a wide range of corrugated packaging and display applications on both coated and uncoated sheets, delivering sharp text and barcodes, smooth tone transitions and vivid colors, for low to high migration volume of litho and flexo jobs.
Poland-based TFP, a large provider of corrugated solutions, has announced its investment in a new HP PageWide C500 digital corrugated press to provide innovative digital corrugated services to brands and corrugated converters in Europe.
The industrial-scale press will be the first HP PageWide C500 unit installed in Poland, operating in Kornik at TFP’s main corrugated sheet and box plant in Western Poland. The press will enable TFP to serve as a wholesale trade sheet converter for the local market as well as deliver on-demand, variable sized and personalised products for brand clients in Poland, Germany and central Europe.
‘As a large market player, we are always focused on being the first to acquire and introduce new technology to fulfill our customers’ needs as soon as they arise in the market. We are always looking for the best machine available and the right target market,’ said Andrzej Tylenda, vice president of TFP. ‘The C500 will give us new possibilities to deliver a fast-change in graphics, different graphics for target markets and marketing promotions such as beer packaging customised for local football clubs.’
TFP provides services to a wide range of leading industrial brands, including in the automotive, CPG brands, furniture and retail industry, experiencing rapid growth in e-commerce packaging.
‘It’s exciting to see how TFP is taking the lead in launching a high-volume operational digital business model in their market with the high quality output, workflow and efficiency offered by the HP PageWide C500. Poland is a key strategic location for delivering a digital advantage to Poland and its neighbouring territories,’ said Mark Rowland, HP PageWide Industrial EMEA Go to Market.
According to Tylenda, a key market for the HP PageWide corrugated print is TFP’s eco-conscious customers. ‘Companies more focused on the environment will choose the water-based ink solution and not UV,’ he said.
HP PageWide’s C500 true water-based inks can be used to print the most sensitive corrugated box applications, including for food products and agricultural produce coming in direct contact with the inside of the box. The HP inks can meet stringent food safety requirements such as USDA FDA 21 CFR, Nestlé guidance, Swiss Ordinance and EuPIA.
The HP C500 reduces the cost of manufacturing boxes and opens new business opportunities with digital flexibility, direct-to-board printing and scaled volume production. Designed for producing high quality print in demanding production environments, the press prints at 75 metres/min (246 linear ft/min) in top print quality.
