Minuteman Press R21 Office Park added a Xerox Versant 280 and a Riso ComColor GL9730 inkjet printer, purchased from Altron Document Solutions (ADS), to its business. The installation was facilitated by Compleo, a Xerox authorised reseller since 1999.
The Xerox Versant 280 (V280) press combines speed and quality with the ability to print on supported stocks up to 400gsm. Versatile media support includes envelopes and stock as small as 98 x 146mm and as long as 330 x 660mm. Labels, tabs and special substrates like synthetics, polyesters, window clings, transfer paper and magnetic stocks are also supported.
Riso’s GL series boast a line-up of optional accessories that instantly transform tasks into a streamlined experience that meets users’ expectations, such as feeders, trays and stackers. The ComColor GL9730 features single-pass full-colour printing of up to 165 A4 long-edge feed colour pages per minute. The print type is a line-type inkjet system. Its ink type is oil-based pigment ink (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black and Grey).
Minuteman Press R21 Office Park owner Rico van Staden described the V280 as a significant machine when it comes to quality: ‘It delivers good quality when it comes to booklets, pamphlets and brochures,’ he said.
He added that the V280 upholds the Minuteman Press brand when it comes to quality and reliability, and that it is ideal for the company’s continuous orders of cards, namely greeting cards (e.g. they recently processed a large order of cards for ‘Boss’s day’) and business cards, as the machine is ideal when it comes to handling 400gsm paper.
‘The Riso GL9730 is an inexpensive and efficient machine that helps us with training manuals and NCR books. We hope to penetrate the NCR market – there has been a big increase in the market in general, and we’d like to get a portion of that market.’
The service from ADS was described as excellent, ‘We had them here from the start. They were well prepared when they came and did a site inspection. We didn’t have to move the equipment again. They did a decent job from start until finish. There’s nothing that I can complain about. They provided excellent service delivery.’
