The company debuted the ALPHAJET, which brings MGI’s tradition of innovation into B2 production colour printing, at drupa, as well as a host of new equipment. The ALPHAJET B2 sheetfed digital inkjet press effectively bridges the gap between the advantages of offset (speeds, accuracy and quality) and the benefits of digital technologies (on-demand, no make ready and variable data), while providing the same flexibility and versatility that is a hallmark of all the company’s digital solutions.
The latest member of the Meteor series of Multi-Substrate Digital Presses, the Meteor DP9800 XL, was also showcased for the first time at the expo. The printer is designed for a high production environment, the Meteor DP 9800 XL delivers the true versatility the Meteor series is known for, while offering end users a broader range of substrate thicknesses and increased speed and duty cycle capabilities. The Meteor DP 9800 XL is scheduled to enter production in Q1 2013.

The company also showcased the new JETVarnish 3D, which takes spot UV coating to a new level, offering beautiful spot embossing capabilities, ideal for producing textured and raised effects on digital or offset prints up to 52 x 105 cm (20 x 42”). For users interested in higher volume spot UV coating without the raised effects, the JETvarnish 3D can provide
this capability via an additional row of print heads.
