Paper-based mailers have enormous potential when it comes to cutting CO2 emissions. The Lemu Group and paper manufacturer Koehler Paper have introduced fully paper-based mailers for a sustainable future. The result is a mailer that is completely made of paper and makes it possible to safely ship goods without the need for plastic bubble wrap.
‘Koehler Eco® Paper’ recycled paper, which is used in these innovative mailers, is available in grammages of 120 to 350gsm. Its running properties make it ideal for further processing on standard converting systems. Within this context, the collaborative efforts between Koehler Paper and the Lemu Group have focused on developing cutting-edge sustainable packaging solutions for e-commerce.
‘We’re extremely happy that we’re now able to produce a lightweight, versatile and fully recyclable paper mailer on our machines after our tests with Koehler’s Eco® Paper recycled paper delivered excellent results,’ said Jean-Claude Jaufret, director of the Paper Bags and Envelopes division from the Lemu Group.
These paper mailers provide the same level of protection that plastic bubble wrap mailers do, but can also be disposed of as wastepaper and recycled. ‘Paper-based packaging currently has the highest recycling rate out of all materials in Europe,’ added Udo Hollbach, managing director of the Koehler Paper Greiz site.
