Kemtek will showcase the full range of Duplo products at the Africa Print Expo, taking place from 21-23 August at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Duplo Ultra 145 UV coater
The Ultra 145A is a simple and user friendly flood UV coating machine that provides an enhanced and protective gloss in a matt or satin finish on a wide range of digital and offset papers. The Ultra 145A adds real value and effect to the finished product, by adding vibrancy and depth to a wide range of applications including photos, postcards, book covers, point of sale and advertising material. The coatings add real value to the finished product, while protecting against abrasion and scratching.
The Ultra’s patented system provides a fully automatic set up of the coating and application and feeding rollers, making it perfect for both short and long runs. The Ultra can accommodate a broad range of paper stocks and sizes with paper weights from 120gsm- 350gsm.
The automatic suction feeder SF205 accurately and consistently feeds sheets from the top of the paper stack each time. Air is distributed through the front of the stack to create lift and separation. A double sheet overlap detection sensor automatically detects when two or more sheets are being delivered into the coating rollers. This function automatically stops the coating process, representing huge savings on possible reprints.
The Ultra 145A is the perfect solution whatever your print engine. It uses a simple to use touch screen control panel. Up to 50 memory positions are available to provide for the quick setting up of speed, coating volume, air knife and UV lamp power information.
The Ultra 145A offers an automatic set-up of the three processing rollers which in turn leads to a reduction in set up times and costs. A built-in air knife ensures that lightweight media will not adhere to the application roller, whilst significantly increasing productivity levels. The SF205 sheet feed attachment includes a 200mm stack capacity which results in a further increase in productivity, whilst minimising any re-load times.
Duplo DC645
The 645 production finisher automatically cuts, slits and creases to produce greetings cards, postcards, CD and DVD covers, business cards and more – quickly, accurately and profitably.
Specifically designed to match the output of high end production digital presses, the DC-645 production colour finisher can effortlessly produce regular and folded business cards, postcards, greeting cards, full bleed brochures, direct mailers and other bespoke print-on-demand materials on stocks of up to 350gsm.
Most colour digital applications require the ability to trim to a full bleed product and/or crease, for crack-free folding of digital print. The Duplo DC-645 is unique in combining slitting, trimming and creasing in one product, with all three functions operating in a single pass. Cost-effective and easy to operate, it finishes up to 26 sheets per minute. It also boasts an optional PC-based user interface and JDF connectivity, making it simple to programme, and as the market continues to migrate towards new and more varied print jobs, the flexible design can incorporate additional tool modules such as business card cutters, perforators or scorers.
Duplo FKS – KB4000 PUR Binder
The FKS PrintBind KB-4000 PUR is the latest in on-demand binding and is ideal for producing high quality books in short runs. This user-friendly, single clamp binder features both PUR and EVA glues. The PUR glue is dispensed through a unique self-sealing slot nozzle which provides a precise amount of glue down the length of the spine. In addition, the FKS PrintBind KB-4000 PUR also comes with two active glue applicator discs which apply an even spread of EVA hot-melt glue to the side of book.
Having both types of glue in one machine means you get the strong bind from the PUR and the quick drying of the hot-melt. The benefit of this is that the cover is held firmly in place during the nipping process, and then the finished book can be handled soon after being produced whereas normally you would have to wait for the glue to cure.
As with bigger, standalone PUR perfect binders, the FKS PrintBind KB-4000 PUR is fitted with an integrated PUR tank meaning no fume extraction is needed. Dry air is also circulated within the tank making the glue more durable. In addition this machine comes fitted with an automated cleaning feature which takes 10 minutes to complete making it very easy to maintain.
Like other machines in the Duplo range, precision automation and user-friendliness are key. With this in mind, fine adjustments are easily made to all book parameters via an intuitive colour touch screen control. Other features such as the adjustment of glue temperature or the selection of a manual/automatic cycle can also be changed easily through this control. The make ready takes up to 30 seconds, making it perfect for on demand printers with tight deadlines.
DF-1200 Suction Folder
The DF-1200 is the only table-top suction folder in the market with Optical Double Feed Detection. Duplo has developed the DF-1200 by looking at the major trends in the global print market, in particular the digital colour market at which it is targeted. The suction feed helps to avoid marking and static fuelled mis-feeding, notorious on friction fed paper handling systems, while also allowing a heavier grade of paper to be fed. User-friendliness is key, with both intelligent paper size detection and automatic plate setting working together to ensure the quickest possible set-up and folding accuracy.
