JohnsByrne is optimising its premium packaging operations with EFI’s Radius® packaging ERP software. The long-time EFI customer is a full-service speciality packaging converter. The implementation of EFI Radius software is the next logical step to support the company’s culture of continuous improvement.

JohnsByrne is switching its business management software platform to EFI Radius to take advantage of Radius’ packaging-specific features.

‘We have been an EFI customer for a long time,’ said Corey Gustafson, the company’s president. ‘It has been a good journey and we have always been early adopters. We wanted to move to a solution that was more dynamically integrated and aligned with the package manufacturing process. We are excited that EFI Radius is tailored to our structural packaging environment.’

As a quality and service-minded producer of high-end packaging, direct mail and point-of-sale materials, JohnsByrne has always been a strong believer in advanced management systems that improve business processes. The cohesive, packaging-centric platform the company is adopting with EFI Radius will enhance its ability to access and analyse production data and financial metrics in real time.

‘Greater electronic visibility into job costs means we can tie it all together and be better positioned to take out unnecessary steps and costs,’ said Gustafson. ‘That means less duplication of effort and the ability to continue our growth without adding excessive resources.’

‘EFI’s software technologies help us understand exactly what our costs are each step of the way,’ he added. ‘Once we implement Radius in early 2015, we believe we will be able to build even greater efficiencies.’

Gustafson’s team manages the business with a framework where, once a job is entered, data for that job follows the production process without the need for re-keying and cross-checking. The new Radius platform will extend the benefits the company currently receives from having an integrated workflow, making JohnsByrne personnel more productive in communicating key operational needs. ‘We will have more effective, fact-based meetings,’ said Gustafson, ‘which is an often-overlooked benefit of an efficient business and production infrastructure.’

‘JohnsByrne is a dynamic company that is not satisfied with doing things the way they have always been done, which is apparent from its transition to EFI Radius,’ said David Taylor, general manager, Enterprise segment, EFI Productivity Software. ‘Our Productivity Software portfolio is unique in its ability to support customers as they develop and transform their businesses, which is what exactly we are doing now as we help JohnsByrne drive greater profitability in its premium packaging and high-impact direct mail business.’
