Flint Group launched its new generation of Sheetfed UV Low Migration inks, created out of a new resin technology system: UltraCURA Sens, UltraCURA Sens Plas and UltraCURA Sens Bases.
Trevor Amps, global product management director for energy curing inks explained the significance of the launch, ‘We decided to use specifically selected resin principles for all our energy curing products, with common, balanced pigmentation levels. This will increase stability and performance consistency across our entire energy curing range. We’re calling it our Platform Technology, upon which all our future energy curing systems will be based.
‘We’re launching the first products based on the new technology. Our next generation low migration inks, UltraCURA Sens, are developed for food packaging applications where there‘s no direct contact between the printed image and the contents of the package.’
The UltraCURA Sens systems are low-odour, low-migration process ink and base inks for sheetfed and web offset packaging printing. They’re suitable for coated and uncoated papers and board and Plas is also suitable for plastic substrates. They all give excellent adhesion, good ink-water stability, good rub resistance, high colour strength, fast curing speed and thanks to low water pick up, very good press stability.
UltraCURA Sens and UltraCURA Sens Plas are particularly well suited for the production of packaging that complies with the requirements of the EU-regulation 1935/2004 and 2023/2006 as well as with the Swiss Ordinance 817.023.21. Additionally, the series meets the requirements of the EuPIA Guideline ‘Printing Inks applied to the non-food contact surface of food packaging materials and articles.’
