Johannesburg-based company ElegantFoil & Print is the first company in South Africa to install a Xerox Colour J75 Press. The press was installed in August. Digipress sold the Xerox Colour J75 press to ElegantFoil & Print with the support from Bytes Document Solutions.
With over 48 years experience in the print industry, founder George Carnell established ElegantFoil & Print in 1987 together with his son Craig and daughter Lana. The company offers services such as litho printing, digital/laser printing, design and repro, hot foil stamping, die-cutting, embossing, promotional goods, packaging, stationery, office furniture and office consumables.
When the time came to upgrade, we decided on the Xerox J75 without even considering other options, said Craig Carnell, MD of ElegantFoil & Print. We wanted to offer our customers fast turnaround and high quality, at a competitive price. The J75 delivers on all those requirements, giving us many more sheets per minute. Our capacity and productivity have been vastly enhanced. In addition, the press offers duplex printing, copying and scanning, and can run all stocks at rated speeds. Importantly, it also features an anti-curl facility, which is really important in our environment, as heat often makes certain types of paper curl, which means the job is then very difficult to work with should it require specific finishing techniques.
In addition to speeding up our turnaround times, the quality produced by the press is outstanding, added Carnell. Our products look like they have been printed on a litho press. The device offers exceptional control over alignment and registration, assuring that our customers jobs meet the most exacting standards. The colour is excellent, and we can produce high-value documents that have a smooth, offset-like matte finish, shadow detail, and superior halftones.
ElegantFoil chose the Xerox® EX Print Server, Powered by Fiery, that provides many advanced features and benefits, including: unique Visual Workflow with WYSIWYG imposition and make-ready, learn ‘on-the-fly’ with online Command WorkStation® How-To, accommodate the widest range of customer applications, accurate and predictable colour reproduction and automated job submission to accelerate job turnaround time.
With the growth of colour pages still a sweet spot for printers, the J75 press makes it easier to capture more lucrative jobs, ranging from photo books and brochures to direct-mail pieces and catalogues.
‘The new Xerox Colour J75 press is geared for various production environments, including in-plant operations, quick printers, commercial printers. The press’s productivity features and media handling will appeal to both seasoned digital professionals and those entering the market,’ said Paul Haglich, Marketing Manager for Production Systems at Bytes Document Solutions.
For commercial print shops producing high-volume, high-value applications, the Xerox Colour J75 offers additional productivity, running all paper stocks, including heavyweight up to 300 gsm, at full rated speed – 75 pages per minute (ppm). It can easily match corporate colours and emulates industry colour standards such as GRACoL® and ISO. With Xeroxs Automated Colour Quality Suite (ACQS) which incorporates an inline spectrophotometer and colour management tools, accurate, reliable colour can be achieved with minimal operator involvement.
The J75’s advanced scanning and copying features provide workflow efficiencies, a plus for businesses entering the digital marketplace. Optional mobile and cloud solutions offer printers new ways to do business, as jobs can be submitted and printed securely from smart phones, tablets, laptops or desktops.
Compliance and Certifications of the J75 Press include: ENERGY STAR® Qualified, de-inkability certification from INGEDE and it adheres to EU RoHS-compliant restrictions on the use of hazardous substances. It complies with Fogra, GRACoL®, PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM ®, PANTONE® Goe ™, PANTONE® PLUS and features the Adobe® PDF Print Engine.
