With its innovative technologies and space-saving design, the Canon imagePRESS V1000 is the optimal solution for mid-volume production printing environments. The V1000 offers maximum productivity with a print speed of 100ppm, a paper capacity of 11,100 sheets, a media weight support of 400gsm, and auto-duplex printing of up to 1300mm. The printing press has been installed at Cape Town-based Novus Print, a division of printing and manufacturing firm Novus Holdings.
The installation reflects Novus Print’s dedication to state-of-the-art printing technology. It enables the company with a reliable printing platform that provides multiple applications and sizes; saves time, labour and costs; and assists in meeting customers’ growing and ever-changing demands.
Niel Bosman, Sheetfed and Digital Manager at Novus Print explained, ‘Novus has a long-standing relationship with Canon, and we enjoy the great service we experience with a world-class company. We needed added capacity after the acquisition of Maskew Miller, and the imagePRESS V1000 was the obvious choice as it gave us this added capacity as well as more capabilities.’
As one of southern Africa’s largest print production and manufacturing companies, Novus Holdings offers short- to long-print runs across all forms of print material. Its plants are equipped with the most advanced print technologies and are capable of producing quality products ranging from books and magazines to flyers and brochures.
Discussions between Canon and Novus Print regarding the imagePRESS V1000 began in late 2022 after Novus Print recognised the need for further investment in their digital cut sheet department. The department was already equipped with a Canon imagePRESS C8000 and three Canon varioPRINT 6000 series devices, marking the installation of the V1000 as a natural progression from a print quality and technology perspective.
‘Our longstanding relationship with Novus Print enables us to fully comprehend their business needs and make decisions based on their required printing capabilities and output levels. By fully engaging with our customers, we have direct insight into what they expect from Canon solutions and can equip them with solutions that bring their operations into the present, and prepare them for the future,’ said Lee-Ann Saunders, Commercial Print Specialist at Canon South Africa.
The installation, overseen by Canon EMEA Service Engineer, Delon Abrahams, was finalised in May 2023 and completed in just over two days. Thanks to the timely and efficient process, Novus Print was able to immediately commence with printing tasks using the V1000.
The V1000’s fast, auto-duplex printing capability is aided by an embedded cooling unit that reduces the frequency of temperature adjustment between sheets, resulting in consistent print speeds across a variety of different applications. Users also save time and effort thanks to built-in colour management technology, with automatically adjusted front-to-back registration and colour tone.
Finally, the V1000 incorporates an impeccable, space-saving design. A small footprint and flat worktop make it a practical and highly functional component of any workspace.
‘The V1000 speaks to Canon’s commitment to push the boundaries of what’s possible with printing technology. Production printing requires a holistic and innovation-driven approach if businesses are to receive the best results. The Novus Print brand is upheld by the quality of Canon printing devices and long-term support services, providing its customers with quality printed products, and demonstrating what it takes to be a leader in the national industry,’ Saunders concluded.
