Book Printer Installs Komori Solution
Komori installed a Lithrone G840P advance at TNM PRINT.

With automation now central to the industry, TNM PRINT has streamlined operations, boosted efficiency, and expanded creative possibilities, enhanced by the addition of the Komori Lithrone G840P advance, blending tradition with a forward-looking approach.

Based in the Czech Republic, TNM PRINT is renowned for quality and innovation in book printing. Founded in 1969 and rebranded in 1997, the company has a rich legacy and a commitment to evolution, continuously investing in advanced machines and software to stay competitive. Specialising in paperback and hardcover books, TNM PRINT expertly manages the entire process, from initial preparation to applying unique finishes, such as 2D and 3D UV varnishes and foil stamping.

Radek Kuklík, Print Shop Manager at TNM PRINT for nearly 20 years, views printing as a passion due to its diversity and constant innovation, ‘One is basically always learning,’ he said, noting recent advancements in production and finishing.

When searching for a new press, TNM PRINT prioritised their customers’ needs and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). After evaluating several options, they selected an eight-colour press with a turning device, choosing it for its reliability, local support and user-friendly interface, factors that minimise hidden costs and maximise efficiency. This configuration significantly boosts capacity and reduces production times, aligning with their commitment to cost-effective and high-quality solutions.

The installation process revealed how TCO principles guide TNM PRINT’s operations. Embracing double-sided printing and extended colour gamut has optimised resource use while expanding creative possibilities. These enhancements enable TNM PRINT to meet evolving demands, combining efficiency and quality to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain profitability.

Installing the new press brought about exciting challenges, particularly in adapting to its advanced features. TNM PRINT’s team had to adjust to double-sided printing in a single pass, as well as the intricacies of working with the turning device. Initially, there were hurdles, but with time, the team became adept at maximising the machine’s potential. The new eight-colour press enables TNM PRINT to produce prints with an extended colour gamut, adding three additional colours to the standard CMYK. This capability allows the company to deliver more vibrant and high-quality reproductions and meet the demands of more intricate designs.

‘Our production manager and operators are satisfied with the press. Customers who have seen it in action have expressed their delight at the quality and speed, giving them confidence that their orders will be processed quickly and to the highest standard,’ Kuklík said. With average print runs around 1700 sheets, TNM PRINT is now more capable than ever of handling diverse and complex print jobs.

In addition to the Komori presses, the company’s postpress department includes machines like MBO K800 and RS folding machines with CoBot configuration, that contribute to optimising the workflow, ensuring that the folded sections are collected on the pallet smoothly and efficiently. The team appreciates the synergy between all machines, as each one contributes to the smooth operation and high standards TNM PRINT has set for itself.

With its eye on the future, TNM PRINT is committed to consolidating and strengthening its position as a competitive player in both the Czech and international markets. To achieve this, the company plans to further invest in automation across the entire production process, from order processing to final dispatch. ‘We want our customers to feel confident that their orders will be handled with care and precision, and that they will be shipped on time,’ Kuklík shared.

Investing in automation not only ensures a higher level of consistency and quality control but also enables TNM PRINT to maintain competitive pricing and timely delivery, key factors in client satisfaction. By staying agile and forward-thinking, the company aims to continue offering reliable service while remaining a trusted partner for clients.
