Based on the experience with its service and support over more than two decades, Autoadesivi Cipriani renewed its faith in BOBST’s inline flexo technology by adding a highly automated press to evolve its capabilities and drive growth. A new BOBST MASTER M5 press has doubled production capacity for the Italian label manufacturer.
Founded in 1977, Autoadesivi Cipriani serves a variety of markets with a strong focus on the food and wine industries. Having witnessed its production requirements evolving, the company recognised the need to update its machinery to meet the increasing complexity of market demands. ‘Today, there is a greater urgency in producing and delivering finished labels. Customers are demanding much faster turnaround but won’t compromise on quality. Print runs are also getting shorter and SKU proliferation is increasing,’ explained Giuseppe Cipriani, who is the administrator at the family-run business in Bitetto, southwest of Bari in southern Italy.
Already accustomed to BOBST inline flexo technology through a press installed nearly 25 years ago, the Cipriani team did not hesitate in choosing another BOBST machine. ‘The MASTER M5 gives us the ability to handle print runs of different lengths on various substrates and provides faster finishing. This expands the range of labels we can produce and allows us to reach new markets.’
With the installation of the BOBST MASTER M5, Cipriani has made a significant generational leap, introducing the next level in versatility, flexibility and sustainability to its production floor. Known for its precision and quality consistency, the M5 offers more uptime and higher productivity thanks to the advanced automation features, which enable very fast setup and changeovers. Specifically, Cipriani’s MASTER M5 is configured with BOBST’s Print Tutor system, which digitalises the process, automating length and side register setup and control, using a mark-to-mark detection camera on each unit.
This is particularly beneficial when producing shorter job lengths where makeready times and waste can rapidly erode profits. It also enables operators to prepare the next print job while the machine runs independently, thereby eliminating downtime and speeding up production. ‘Our new MASTER M5 flexographic press provides the flexibility and versatility required for a much wider variety of applications. Expanding our offering, it can print any type of label – supported and unsupported – as well as flexible packaging and light cartonboard, delivering exceptional performance in terms of quality and productivity with less waste,’ stated Raffaele Cipriani, the company’s quality manager.
