MicroDynamics LLC’s new ‘wide field’ mode, a new feature as part of its recent MicroScan3 version 3.5.0 software release, doubles the field of view on an anilox without any modifications to the existing Veritas™ microscope. Using the new wide field mode, Veritas™ users can inspect a wider range of anilox rolls with just one lens.
The new software update expands the microscopes’ field of view to be twice as wide and twice as high. This allows printers using the standard 20x objective lens to inspect a wider range of screen counts, from 120 lpi (47 lpcm) to more than 1500 lpi (591 lpcm). For those dealing with coarser coating rolls, a 10x objective lens option enables inspections to handle screen counts as low as 60 lpi (24 lpcm).
Prior to this MicroDynamics-exclusive innovation, anilox inspection microscopes required frequent changes between 4X, 10X, and 20X lenses to measure an anilox inventory covering a range of low and high line screens. During these lens changeovers, users risk dropping or damaging an expensive objective lens. This new software release eliminates the downtime and risks associated with lens changes and increases the range of anilox rolls that can be inspected with one lens. The new wide field mode enables faster, easier anilox quality control measurements with the FTA award winning Veritas™ inspection system.
MicroDynamics has noted that the new wide field mode update is just one example of many continuous improvement updates to be released for the Veritas™ inspection system.
‘Veritas was designed to be upgradeable, modular, and future-proof for the modern printer. We are always open to customer feedback and will continue to innovate new features that make anilox inspection with Veritas™ fast, easy and reliable,’ said Brent Zurcher, MicroDynamics’ Director of Operations.
MicroDynamics remains committed to improving and standardising anilox quality control in the industry and will ensure all users have access to the same inspection features. Future software releases will be automatically applied to all Veritas™ systems with no additional hardware or software investment required. Future software upgrades apply to the Veritas™ system only and may not be compatible with legacy MicroDynamics equipment.
