Kongsberg Showcasing Cutting Table

The Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) team will use IndiaCorr Expo to demonstrate the versatility of its X24 Edge cutting table.

Visitors will experience first-hand how the power, performance and accuracy of Kongsberg PCS combines with innovative tooling and software to transform short runs and sample making at the India Expo Mart from 28-30 September.

‘With its high production speed, exceptional cutting quality and the ability to easily be upgraded as a business grows, the X24 Edge delivers a combination of tried and tested Kongsberg productivity, flexibility and best-in-class reliability,’ said Rafiq Shaikh, Sales and Service Leader for Kongsberg PCS.

‘The Kongsberg X24 Edge offers various speeds to meet price and performance needs, and it can easily handle the full range of range of recycled corrugated boards, from micro flute to 3A, as well as honeycomb, foam and much more,’ he said. ‘There is no compromise on machine configuration with all the X-Series options available, and with a range of specialty tools, the cutting table handles a wide range of applications, offering speed, power and the flexibility to add new tools for new materials, new applications or more capacity.

‘Perhaps most importantly the X Edge can evolve to keep pace with the changing demands of any business, enabling converters to add volume and enter new market segments,’ said Shaikh.

‘We will demonstrate how when combined with the X24 Edge, the PowerHead tool enables users to crease, V-notch and cut straight lines at high speeds with a variety of adapters and ensuring superior performance on heavy-duty materials,’ said Shaikh. ‘The 150mm diameter crease wheels deliver a scoring pressure equivalent to 50kg, which is two-and-a-half times more than the down-pressure conventional tool stations and easily sufficient to crease triple and double-wall corrugated with heavy liners.’

‘Not only that, but the PowerHead tool also comes with two regular tool positions, which means that all standard insert tools can be used,’ said Shaikh. ‘We will show IndiaCorr visitors how the large-size wheels also provide superior crease quality on recycled corrugated board, especially because a higher pressure can be applied without cracking the liner. The HDU can offer V-notch cutting, with mitered corners and extremely precise folds for loading pallets, container cushioning pieces, and paper core board displays.’

Shaikh said the cutting system would be completed with the Kongsberg Multi-Purpose High-Frequency Knife (MPHF), a reciprocating knife tool for cutting a broad range of different materials. ‘The MPHF runs at a frequency of 12,000 strokes per minute, with an amplitude of 1.2mm, which requires a reduced cutting speed compared to the Standard Reciprocating Knife Tools,’ explained Shaikh. ‘Along with its powerful motor, this enables exceptional cutting of heavily recycled board at efficient speed, something which is becoming increasingly important to today’s customers.’
