Graphix Supply World exhibited cutting-edge packaging solutions at Propak Africa, which took place from 12-15 March 2013. The company sold three units of the Esko Kongsberg XN flatbed digital cutting table, which was exhibited for the first time in South Africa, and showcased a range of solutions, which generated a large amount of sales.
The show unit of the Esko Kongsberg XN was sold to a large print and packaging company in Johannesburg and another two sales of Kongsberg units were concluded during the four days of the show. Available in seven different sizes from 1680 x 1270 mm (66” x 50”) to 2210 x 6550 mm (87” x 258”), the Kongsberg XN cutting machine comes with a wide range of specialty tools. The tools offer speed, power and flexibility to automatically handle a wide variety of materials, such as corrugated, folding carton, solid board, foam, coating blankets, wood and a long list of plastics. It is suitable for signage, packaging or displays, and production using vinyls, boards or wood.

Mimaki CJV-130
GSW also sold 14 units of the Mimaki CJV-130 large format digital print and cut machine. The printer provides an excellent solution for small run label printing and, together with the ColorGATE RIP software, features such as barcode creation, personalisation, and silver ink handling are produced with ease. The CJV30 machine, equipped with eco solvent metallic ink, demonstrated high quality label printing and cutting with amazing metallic effects.
Available in four sizes (60 cm, 100 cm, 130 cm, and 160 cm), the CJV30 series offers users a complete high performance print and cut solution. The product range is packed with highly reliable features, such as high-speed continuous crop mark detection, Mimaki’s original Half-Cut function, integrated print and cut capabilities, superior media handling and unattended print features.
Kompac UV EZ Koat Coater
GSW also showcased the Kompac UV EZ Koat Coater, and sold three units of the machine. The Kompac EZ Koat Web 15 has a small footprint, and is a roll-to-roll UV and aqueous coater capable of applying coating to on demand digital labels or cut sheets up to 37cm (14.5”) wide by virtually any length. It features Solid State UV. It is environmentally friendly and the solid state UV replaces outdated and potentially hazardous ballast/mercury relay systems used in curing UV coatings.
One unit was sold to Swift Displays. The Kompac UV coating machine is so efficient thanks to the quality design and robust and economical UV varnish. The Primera CX1200e digital colour label printing press and FX1200e digital cutting, finishing and laminating combo were showcased at the show and two combos were sold. The CX1200e allows companies to produce labels that rival the cost and quality of virtually any other process, regardless of equipment cost, and it prints at speeds of up to 5m (16 feet per minute). This allows much higher volumes of labels to be printed in a much shorter period of time. Together, CX1200e and FX1200e allows companies to produce their own high quality, low cost labels at speeds that satisfy almost any short to medium label run requirements.
