1450

Scodix will introduce the new Scodix Digital Press S Series, to support B2+ and B3+ size applications at Graph Expo 2012 (October 7-10). The Scodix S52 and S74 offer increased size versatility as well as four new features including Digital Glitter, VDP, Braille Printing, and Inline Barcoding.

At drupa 2012, industry pundit Frank Romano named Scodix one of the two hottest things at the show. With the S52 and S74 presses, Scodix will push the envelope further with differentiating capabilities that print service providers (PSPs) can pass on to their customers. The show will mark the first time the S Series has been exhibited in North America.

The S Series offers end users increased versatility in their printing capacity to include B3+ (52cm/20”) and B2+ (74cm/29”) sized applications. These additional sized solutions, with the thicker substrates and higher ScodixSENSE solution (up to 250 microns), open even more opportunities for digital PSPs.

The Scodix S Digital Press series enhances the tangible Scodix SENSE™ experience by using an advanced jetting block and multiple independently controlled inkjet nozzles. This unique technology delivers Scodixs proprietary PolySENSE™ clear polymer in small drops and multiple layers. The Scodix patent-pending Optical Print Alignment (OPA) CCD camera system executes enhancements with image-to-image registration and pinpoint accuracy, scanning each and every sheet to ensure delivery of the Scodix PolySENSE™ clear polymer to its exact location.

As a stand-alone solution compatible with offset, laminated sheets and digital print feeds, the press automatically processes a wide range of substrates and formats (substrates weights from 135 to 675gsm/6-30 points and thickness of up to 0.7mm / 700 microns). The Scodix S Series can print variable levels of thickness and texture, with a thick clear polymer that can reach as high as 250 microns, enabling the production of Braille letters, as well as graphic elements.

At drupa, in an estimated 30000 people visited the Scodix booth. We know because over 250000 samples were handed out (Scodix even ran out on several occasions], said Scodix Vice President of Marketing Ziki Kuly. More than a dozen new orders went to customers that were exposed to Scodix SENSE for the first time during the show. From Frank Romano to our customers, we’re receiving rave reviews, and we’re anxious to show Graph Expo attendees why there’s so much excitement surrounding us.

Our mission is to enable our customers to significantly differentiate themselves through more sophisticated technology and services, said Kobi Bar, CEO and Founder of Scodix. Our newest features enable users to take these services to the next level. Since Scodixs enhancement products are modular and their new features are add-ons that can be fully integrated into customers existing Scodix systems, PSPs can easily and cost-effectively provide the ScodixSENSE™ experience to an increasing and more demanding audience.

Scodix is exhibiting the following new features at the Graph Expo booth:

Digital Glittering: The Scodix Rainbow Station is the world’s first in-house digital inkjet glittering station producing the Scodix Digital Glittering experience. Scodix is now the only supplier to deliver this one-of-a-kind glitter solution, creating new opportunities for photo-album covers, marketing communication materials, cosmetics and premium packaging, business cards, wedding invitations and other short-run applications.

Digital Braille: The Scodix inkjet Braille™ printing technology is a breakthrough in providing materials to the blind and visually impaired. In addition to recreating standard raised Braille formats, the Scodix ink-jet Braille technology can also reproduce scientific elements, shapes such as triangles and circles, and animal forms. Unlike regular Braille, the letters and shapes created by Scodix stay raised at the same height, never flatten and are very easy to sense-read.

Variable Data Printing: Scodix is the world first digital enhancement company that offers VDP using clear polymer or digital glittering. With Scodix S Series a PSP can offer his clients to have personalized greeting cards, ordered on-line with glittering or Scodix SENSE clear polymer impact – exactly on each different name on the cards. In a new world of short runs, and high value proposition applications, personalized enhancements are key for success and high quality work.

Barcoding: Scodix S Series users can use a supporting barcode reader and software system for identification of printed sheets before Scodix enhancement is applied. The Barcode system is used with VDP to identify personalized jobs and enable separations receive clear polymer on specific pages. In applications such as photo albums, for example, users can apply clear polymer over an image or add a clear item on a page (from templates). The Scodix Barcode reader is required to fit the image to the right page, but is also useful for production processes to be direct jobs within a PSP’s workflow.
