Flexographic Specialist Invests In Esko Platemaking Technology

Nu-Maber has introduced the Crystal line of flexographic solutions at its plant in Italy, adding the innovative plate imaging and exposure hardware to an already impressive facility.

‘We have worked with CEO Livio Simionato and the team at Nu-Maber for more than 20 years, and we are thrilled to continue our relationship with this latest installation,’ said Davide Meroni, Sales Account Manager with Esko. ‘The company’s graphics studio uses a range of Esko software – from ArtiosCAD structural design and ArtPro prepress editing through to Automation Engine and WebCenter – to fully digitise, automate and connect the entire prepress workflow. With the acquisition of the CDI Crystal 5080 and XPS Crystal 5080, Nu-Maber now has three Esko CDI imagers, boosting production capacity while also ensuring excellent results for its customers.

‘Nu-Maber has always been at the cutting edge in terms of using the most up to date technology available to guarantee its customers receive the best quality and service,’ said Meroni. ‘The new Crystal technology from Esko delivers in terms of improved simplicity and optimised quality, ensuring the platemaking process, in terms of imaging and exposure, is now much less complex and has significantly fewer steps.

‘The integration of our workflow solutions and hardware technology means that the Nu-Maber team has total control over the quality and performance of its plates and their subsequent print consistency.’

Combining UV main and back exposure, the award-winning Esko XPS Crystal exposure unit uses LEDs that do not require warm-up time and emit consistently stable light, producing excellent consistency of plate quality. ‘As well as the latest imaging technology, the team is using Esko Automation Engine, Color Engine, Device Manager and WebCenter to automate the workflow and further boost productivity and efficiency,’ said Meroni. ‘Nu-Maber has a full Esko ecosystem in operation, producing consistently high-quality plates.’

With more than 40 years’ experience in prepress and flexo printing, Nu-Maber serves packaging customers across the world and in every field from food and beverages through hygiene, pharmaceutical, corrugated cardboard and labels. The company was the first in Italy to install a flexo CtP for digital platemaking in 1998, becoming the Italian benchmark for flexo printers, and was also among the first to be certified under the Esko HD Flexo program.

‘We design and produce plates for a diverse range of customers, each with their own specific needs,’ said Simonato. ‘The quality of the plates plays a vital role in achieving optimal print results for our customers, which is why we continually look to invest in the latest technology.’
