The Africa Print Expo, taking place from 7-9 September 2016 at Gallagher Convention Centre, will be a showcase for digital packaging and print solutions, which allow printers to differentiate their businesses by offering specialty and premium products.

'Digital printing makes packaging resonant, impactful and helps build brands,' said Silas Amos, Creative Director for jkr UK, who has has over 25 years' experience as a designer and strategic partner for global FMCG companies. He added that brands value being unique, because those that stand out get noticed, and digital printing offers customers unique products with unique packaging. With digital, packaging can also be very specific and localised, for example, instead of targeting products at an entire country, digital printing allows you to produce smaller runs so you can target a town, or province with specific packaging. He added that the speed of digital printing gives brands the opportunity to be topical and produce 'real-time' packaging where they take advantage of trends.

Sean Greer from Midcomp said that the benefits of digital packaging and print solutions include shorter runs, no make-ready costs and variable data printing.

With this in mind, the Africa Print Expo is the ideal platform for printers looking for cost-effective solutions that will set them apart from competitors. The event is the largest commercial and digital printing event in Africa and will feature packaging and digital printing solutions from Kemtek, Canon, Xerox, Nashua, Fujifilm, RISO Africa, Midcomp, Mimaki, Optimus, Beswick, Arctec and OKI, to name a few.

Jens Henrik Osmundsen, vice president, EMEA – APAC Highcon Systems, said that although digital printing is growing rapidly, one area that is still dominated by conventional print is finishing, which is ripe for transformation with digital. 'Digital allows you to create a powerful impact on the shelf, to tailor products to local markets and opens up sophisticated designs,' he said.

The Africa Print Expo is co-located with Sign Africa, FESPA Africa and Africa LED. For more information and to pre-register online, visit: www.AfricaPrintExpo.com.
