OKI has released a mobile print application designed to allow direct printing from smartphones using Android operating systems. Available on the Play Store, Mobile Print is fully compatible with a wide range of OKI’s single function and multi-function laser printers.
This new app allows people to bypass Google Cloud Print and print directly from their Android devices to a larger selection of printers than was previously available on Google Cloud Print. Neil Rom, Managing Director at Printacom, has said that with the increase in the demand for mobile printing, OKI will continue to develop solutions for the mobile market to provide optimal printing solutions.
The Mobile Print app allows users to print PDFs, photographs or web pages from their mobile devices. It also includes Correction Functions, which allow users to correct image distortion or colour balance before printing. The Mobile Print app is also designed to work with OKI’s managed printing services and allows users to manage print jobs or restrict printing even when printing from a mobile environment, thereby saving on OKI toner cartridges.
The app supports a wide range of Android operating systems, from Android 2.3 to Android 4.4, in order to ensure that it is compatible with a variety of smartphones and tablets. OKI plans to develop the app in several other languages, including French, Italian, Spanish and German.
