According to a recent study, ‘Beyond CMYK: The Use of Special Effects in Digital Printing’, conducted by Keypoint Intelligence-InfoTrends, about 30% of colour promotional pages receive some type of special effects enhancement.

‘There is a large market opportunity amounting to about 1.8 trillion pages annually in the U.S. and Western Europe that could potentially be converted to digital methods. In addition, the print buyers we surveyed see the value and are willing to pay significant premiums for this high-value output,’ said Jim Hamilton, group director, Keypoint Intelligence-InfoTrends. The report goes on to state that some 54% of print buyers will seek out and purchase digital enhancement effects in the next two years.

Earlier this year, Scodix randomly invited 20 different major industry service providers to submit live jobs, specialty projects and/or specific designs to the company for augmentation. In this manner, commercial printers and brand owners can see firsthand the potential impact of digital enhancement, such as Scodix Sense and Scodix Foil.

Scodix exhibited a full suite of digital applications at the DSCOOP Annual Conference, from 1-4 March.

Last year, Scodix launched two more applications, swelling the feature capabilities of the company’s most advanced system, the Scodix Ultra Pro, to a record nine different enhancement effects. These applications now include:

Scodix Sense: digital enhancement printing allows print service providers (PSPs), folding carton converters, designers and brand owners to turn ordinary products and applications into extraordinary creations.
